Abstract
- Researchers from Technical University Munich conducted a study on the outcomes of lateral closing wedge distal femoral osteotomy (LCW-DFO) for femoral-based varus malalignment. The study included 32 patients who showed significant improvements in various scores and pain levels postoperatively. While 96% of patients returned to sports, they shifted to lower impact activities, and 23 out of 24 patients returned to work with improved or similar working ability. The study highlights the positive impact of LCW-DFO on return to activity and work, but also emphasizes the need to manage patients' expectations regarding high-impact sports post-surgery.
