Abstract
- Researchers from Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, have developed a murine model of postoperative ileus (POI) to study the mechanisms of intestinal damage and recovery after abdominal surgery. POI is a common complication following surgery, characterized by disrupted gastrointestinal motility. The model involves inducing intestinal manipulation (IM) by massaging the abdomen with a cotton swab, leading to delayed gastrointestinal transit and tissue inflammation. This research, supported by various funding sources, aims to enhance understanding of POI pathophysiology and develop novel therapies. [Extracted from the article]
