Abstract

The article discusses the impact of economic development on greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, focusing on shifts in consumer demand towards food products with higher emissions and the adoption of modern, input-intensive technologies. The study incorporates these factors into a quantitative trade model to analyze the environmental implications. Policy counterfactuals related to economic growth, trade policies, and sustainable diets are explored, highlighting the significance of considering diet and technology changes in assessing GHG emissions from economic growth.
