Abstract
- A study conducted in Chandigarh, India, compared the use of intracameral anesthetic mydriatic combination (ICAM) and topical mydriatic drops in pediatric cataract surgery. The research found that ICAM provided adequate and stable mydriasis without the need for additional pharmacotherapy or intervention, although topical drops achieved a larger maximum pupil size. The study involved 63 patients with bilateral cataracts, with ICAM achieving adequate mydriasis in 93.5% of patients and topical drops in 88.8% of patients. The findings were published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology and concluded that ICAM is effective in pediatric cataract surgery. [Extracted from the article]
