Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Graduate School of Medicine in Osaka, Japan, focused on the impact of degeneration of the cervical multifidus muscles on the physical activity-related quality of life after laminoplasty for degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM). The research found that increased degeneration of the multifidus muscle at the C7 level negatively affected postoperative quality of life. These findings may assist spine surgeons in predicting the physical activity-related quality of life in patients with DCM following laminoplasty. The study was published in Clinical Spine Surgery and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
