Abstract
- The International Monetary Fund projects that France and Italy will not meet the European Union's 3% deficit goal by 2029, with both countries' gross debt continuing to rise annually. Despite pledges from the French and Italian governments to reduce deficits, the IMF anticipates persistent non-compliance with the EU's fiscal rules. Debt levels in both countries are expected to increase, with Italy's debt reaching 142.3% of GDP and France's debt surpassing 124.1% by 2029. The IMF also notes rising debt levels in the UK and Belgium, with Britain not subject to EU monitoring. [Extracted from the article]
