Abstract
- Advanced Sensing Products (ASP) has developed two new miniature capsule platinum resistance thermometers (PRT) for cryogenic use. After testing of a 25.5 Ω prototype of the SSP200 yielded promising results, ASP has developed a specially designed 100 Ω element using a custom diameter platinum wire to manufacture the 100 Ω SSP200 and the PRP200. The SSP200 can be used from a range of 13 K (-260 °C) to 533 K (260 °C). Testing of the 100 Ω SSP200 shows a shift between -2.09 mK to 1.86 mK through 9 cycles at 77 K (liquid nitrogen) and -1.4 mK to 1.4 mK at 273.16 K (triple point of water). Testing performed by Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc. has shown excellent stability in the 100 Ω SSP200 from 13K to 330K. The SSP200 does not off-gas when tested in ultra-high vacuum at mid 10<superscript>−8</superscript> Torr and is suitable for cryogenic use in vacuum. The PRP200 can be used from a range of 77 K to 477 K. The PRP200 shows a shift between -3.95 mK to 2.56 mK through 9 cycles at 77 K and 0.47 mK to 2.33 mK at 273.16 mK (triple point of water).
