Abstract

Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner exchange, with 95 Ukrainian soldiers swapped for an equal number of Russian forces. The exchange was mediated by the United Arab Emirates, according to Russia's Defense Ministry. This is one of many exchanges that have taken place since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The total number of prisoners returned to Ukraine during the war is over 3,600, with previous exchanges occurring in September and involving 152 Ukrainian individuals. Ukraine has reported thousands of its citizens being held in Russia, while Russia claims to have Ukrainian soldiers in its custody as well. [Extracted from the article]
