Abstract
- A study conducted at Duke Cancer Institute in Durham, North Carolina, examined the impact of early specialist palliative care (PC) involvement on patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (mNSCLC). The research found that early PC consultation was associated with improved quality of life, less aggressive end-of-life care, and longer survival. Despite the benefits of early PC integration, referrals to PC in mNSCLC still occur late or not at all. This real-world study highlights the importance of timely PC involvement in improving end-of-life care outcomes for patients with mNSCLC. [Extracted from the article]
