Abstract

Researchers from the Laboratory of Applied Biochemistry in Setif, Algeria, conducted a study on the potential activities of Peganum harmala seeds, traditionally used in Algerian medicine. The study focused on the antioxidant, antihemolytic, and anti-inflammatory properties of Peganum harmala extracts, attributing these activities to polyphenolic compounds found in the extracts. The research, supported by the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Peganum harmala, suggesting its potential as a natural source for medical applications. The study also identified specific bioactive compounds within the extracts that show promise as anti-inflammatory agents, emphasizing the need for further exploration in medical treatments.
