Abstract

Researchers from the University of Ghent in Belgium have published a new report in the field of Psychology - Psychological Science, focusing on mediation analysis and the importance of adjusting for baseline measurements of mediators and outcomes to eliminate confounding biases. The study emphasizes the need to include pretreatment measurements of mediators and outcomes as baseline covariates to improve the validity of causal inferences in psychology research. Financial support for this research came from the Special Research Fund (BOF) of Ghent University. The findings aim to encourage researchers to reflect on the causal assumptions underlying mediation analysis for more accurate results. [Extracted from the article]
