Abstract
- The article in MedComm discusses how the phosphorylation of mitochondrial fission factor (MFF) in the liver, triggered by pro‐opiomelanocortin (POMC) activation, regulates mitochondrial fragmentation and glucose production. This study sheds light on the role of liver mitochondria as a nutrient sensor and its impact on metabolic adaptation to anticipatory nutritional states. The findings suggest potential targets for intervention in metabolic diseases like diabetes and obesity by understanding the AKT/MFF pathway and its influence on hepatic glucose production. The research highlights the importance of food perception in orchestrating metabolic homeostasis and offers insights into developing therapeutic strategies for metabolic disorders.
