Abstract
- The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) strike has ended, but shippers are still facing cargo backlogs and freight constraints. The ILA and United States Maritime Alliance have reached a tentative wage deal and extended their master contract until January 15, 2025. However, it will likely take most of October to get port operations back to normal due to the backlog of cargo and vessels caused by the strike. Shippers are advised to focus on clearing the backlog of shipments and prepare for ongoing delays and congestion at ports. Additionally, experts highlight the need for proactive adoption of automation in port operations to maintain competitiveness and efficiency on a global scale. [Extracted from the article]
