Abstract

This article, published in the Chemistry of Natural Compounds journal, explores the chemical components found in Smilax sieboldii, a type of climbing shrub. Smilax plants are commonly used in traditional medicine and have been studied for their potential medicinal effects. The researchers identified several bioactive compounds in the plant, including phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and fatty acid esters. Some of these compounds have shown anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antioxidant properties. The study provides valuable information about the chemical composition of S. sieboldii and its potential medicinal uses. The research was supported by the Korean Forest Service.
