Abstract

A recent study conducted in Karnataka, India, examined the correlation between alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzyme activity in saliva and early childhood caries (ECC) in South Indian children. The study included 50 participants divided into two groups: caries-active and caries-free. The researchers found a significant correlation between ALP enzyme levels and the severity of dental caries, suggesting that early detection and prevention may be possible. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the relationship between ALP enzyme activity and ECC in South Indian children. [Extracted from the article]
