Abstract

A recent report from the People's Hospital of Zhengzhou University provides new insights into retinal degeneration, specifically focusing on retinitis pigmentosa (RP). RP is a progressive and degenerative retinal disease that leads to severe vision loss. The researchers conducted a proteomic analysis in a mouse model with a Pde6b mutation and identified multiple proteins associated with RP. They found that visual perception and phototransduction were severely affected, and several proteins causing autosomal recessive/dominant RP were identified. The study sheds light on the molecular mechanisms underlying RP and changes in RP-causing proteins. [Extracted from the article]
