Abstract

Researchers from Wuhan University have developed a closed-loop nanosystem for renal denervation to treat hypertension. The system consists of a piezoelectric thin-film sensor and a hollow Pd nanoparticle shell for photothermal neural ablation. The sensor monitors arterial pulsation and blood pressure, directing the nanoparticle shell to maximize renal denervation. The system effectively inhibits renal sympathetic nerves and reduces blood pressure elevation by over 50%. This new technology provides a promising strategy for treating hypertension and other sympathetic nerve-related chronic diseases. [Extracted from the article]
