Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Children's Hospital in Singapore aimed to improve peri-extubation outcomes for intubated cardiac patients by implementing a high-risk extubation readiness test (ERT) protocol. The study compared the outcomes of patients who underwent the high-risk ERT protocol with those who underwent a standard-risk ERT protocol. The results showed a reduction in the composite outcome of extubation failure and rescue noninvasive respiratory support among the patients who underwent the high-risk ERT protocol. The study concluded that the high-risk ERT protocol led to improved peri-extubation outcomes for cardiac patients. [Extracted from the article]
