Abstract

A recent study conducted at Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital in South Korea provides new insights into pancreas transplants. The study analyzed 100 consecutive pancreas transplants performed between 2015 and July 2023, which accounted for about 20% of all transplants in Korea during that period. The study found that the rate of surgical complications was acceptable, with a low thrombotic graft failure rate of 1.0%. However, the pancreas transplantation survival rates were lower in the pancreas transplant alone (PTA) group compared to the simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) and pancreas after kidney (PAK) groups. The researchers hope that by sharing their experiences, they can enhance the activity and success of pancreas transplantation in Korea. [Extracted from the article]
