Abstract
- Researchers at University Hospital Balgrist in Zurich, Switzerland have conducted a study on the long-term results of hallux valgus correction using a distal metatarsal reversed-L (ReveL) osteotomy. The study evaluated 88 patients (131 feet) after an average follow-up of 14.2 years. The results showed that all radiographic parameters significantly improved, with a recurrence rate of 14%. Risk factors for recurrence included a preoperative hallux valgus angle (HVA) of >28° and a 6-week postoperative HVA of >15°. Overall, the study found high long-term satisfaction rates with the ReveL osteotomy procedure. [Extracted from the article]
