Abstract

A new report discusses research on the potential benefits of Salvia leucantha, a perennial herb, in treating Alzheimer's disease (AD). The study conducted by Southwest Forestry University in China found that extracts of S. leucantha could delay paralysis and extend the lifespan of nematodes used as a model for AD. The researchers identified a gene called gst-5 that was up-regulated by the extracts, suggesting that the active components in S. leucantha may have anti-AD properties. This study provides insights into the potential therapeutic effects of S. leucantha in treating AD. [Extracted from the article]
