Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and its association with hepatic oxidative stress (OS) and liver abnormalities. The study focuses on the potential benefits of melatonin (MT) in reducing hepatic OS in PCOS. The researchers found that MT treatment significantly decreased OS levels, liver triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and liver enzyme levels in PCOS rats. They also observed an activation of the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway and a decrease in autophagy levels with MT pretreatment. These findings provide new insights into the study of PCOS-related liver diseases.
