Abstract

This research letter published in the British Journal of Surgery examines the role of splenectomy during left-sided pancreatectomy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The authors analyzed data from the DIPLOMA randomized trial, which included 185 patients with resectable left-sided PDAC. They found that splenic lymph node involvement was rare, particularly in patients with pancreatic body PDAC. The authors suggest that further studies are needed to determine the significance of splenectomy in left pancreatectomy for pancreatic cancer. The document also includes a table with data on various factors related to distal pancreatic cancer, which can be useful for researchers studying prognosis and treatment outcomes.
