Abstract
- According to research company Kantar, grocery prices in the UK increased by 2% in the four weeks leading up to September 29th, up from 1.7% the previous month. The rise in prices was primarily driven by increases in chilled drinks and chocolate confectionery, which may be attributed to high cocoa prices resulting from poor harvests in West Africa. The Bank of England is currently considering how quickly to reduce interest rates, with Governor Andrew Bailey suggesting a "bit more aggressive" loosening of policy. Tesco saw an increase in market share, while Ocado experienced the fastest growth among grocers for the eighth consecutive month. [Extracted from the article]
