Abstract

The article discusses a research study conducted by M. Benedetta Casu et al. on the hybridization of molecules deposited on polycrystalline cobalt surfaces. The study found that the molecules experience charge transfer from the cobalt, leading to a modification of the interface electronic structure and a decrease in the magnetic moment of the cobalt atoms bonded to the molecules. This research provides a method, based on X-ray spectroscopies, to screen organic/ferromagnetic interfaces for potential applications in spintronics. The authors of the study include Ewa Malgorzata Nowik-Boltyk, Tobias Junghoefer, Erika Giangrisostomi, Ruslan Ovsyannikov, Chan Shu, Andrzej Rajca, Andrea Droghetti, and Maria Benedetta Casu.
