Abstract
- This article discusses the expansion of pharmacist-led HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in the United States. It highlights the legislative efforts in California, specifically Senate Bill 159 (SB 159) and Senate Bill 339 (SB 339), which aimed to increase the role of pharmacists in providing PrEP and PEP. The article examines the challenges faced during the implementation of these bills, including issues with reimbursement, training, and pharmacist confidence. It emphasizes the need for support and structural changes to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of pharmacist-led HIV prevention services. [Extracted from the article]
