Abstract
- BRP, the maker of Ski-Doo, has laid off 17 employees in Bromont, Quebec, who were working on a project for low-voltage, human-assisted vehicles. The company made this decision in order to focus on its core motorsports divisions. However, this move will not have any impact on the company's existing product lines. This comes after BRP had already cut around 850 jobs in its Mexico and U.S. divisions earlier this summer due to pressure to sell inventory at its dealerships. BRP has also been working on other electrification projects, such as the Can Am electric motorcycles. Both BRP and its rival, Taiga Motors, have faced challenges in recovering from a slow winter for snowmobile purchases. [Extracted from the article]
