Abstract
- Florida is preparing for another potentially dangerous hurricane, Tropical Storm Milton, which is forecasted to become a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 115 mph when it hits western Florida on October 9. The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving up to 12 inches, leading to a risk of flash flooding and overflowing rivers. If Milton strikes Tampa Bay as a major hurricane, damage and losses could reach $100 billion to $200 billion. This comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene caused significant damage and loss of life across the Southeast. [Extracted from the article]
