Abstract

The text discusses the publication of Rudolf Carnap's diaries, specifically volumes 1 and 2. The diaries offer little philosophical insight and focus more on daily events and external occurrences. The author suggests that Carnap's reticence in explaining himself may be due to his assumption that the cultural and metaphilosophical context of his writings was obvious. The diaries, however, provide valuable information for understanding interwar intellectual history and the Vienna Circle. The editor and publisher have done an excellent job in producing these volumes, which are a valuable resource for researchers interested in Carnap and the intellectual history of the time.
