Abstract

A clinical trial, NCT06608914, is currently being conducted to examine the potential benefits of giving patients testosterone before total hip replacement surgery. The study aims to determine if testosterone administration can prevent muscle loss and improve outcomes after surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either testosterone or a placebo for eight weeks prior to surgery. The study will compare the recovery and outcomes of patients who received testosterone to those who did not. The trial is not yet recruiting participants and is specifically targeting male patients over the age of 18 with osteoarthritis or dysplasia. The trial will enroll 60 participants, and the estimated completion date is December 2026. The primary contact for the study is Benjamin Domb, MD. [Extracted from the article]
