Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Xinxiang Medical University in Henan, China, investigated the molecular mechanism of gold nanorods (AuNRs) interacting with fibrinogen and transferrin to form a protein corona. The researchers used spectroscopic methods and molecular docking to study the interaction. They found that AuNRs can quench the fluorescence of fibrinogen and transferrin, and that the adsorption process follows Freundlich adsorption isotherm and the pseudo-second-order reaction. The formation of the protein corona affects the hydrophobicity and structure of fibrinogen and transferrin. Molecular docking confirmed the experimental results. This research was funded by the Natural Science Foundation of Henan Province and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. [Extracted from the article]
