Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Chinese University of Hong Kong has explored the potential benefits of using the prebiotic inulin to prevent and treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The study found that inulin has hepatoprotective effects, including anti-liver injury, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. While most of the research has been conducted on animals, the study suggests that further research is needed to determine the safe and effective dosage for human use. Inulin is readily available as a supplement and is often combined with probiotic bacteria in synbiotic supplements. [Extracted from the article]
