Abstract

A new report from researchers at Universita della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, Switzerland explores the prognostic value of low heart rates in patients admitted with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). The study analyzed data from a cohort of hospitalized patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) between 1999 and 2021. The researchers found that low admission heart rate in ACS is associated with a higher crude rate of adverse events, but after correction for baseline differences, the prognostic role of low heart rate was not confirmed. These findings may be clinically relevant in improving the accuracy of risk scores in ACS. [Extracted from the article]
