Abstract
- A study conducted at Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing, China, has found that AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) can protect against cardiac injury caused by beta-adrenergic receptor (beta-AR) overactivation. The researchers discovered that AMPK phosphorylates beta-arrestin-1 at serine 330, which inhibits the beta-AR/cAMP/PKA signaling pathway and reduces inflammation and oxidative stress in the heart. The study suggests that AMPK activation could be a potential therapeutic target for cardiac diseases associated with beta-AR overactivation. [Extracted from the article]
