Abstract
- A recent report discusses research on chronic hepatitis B virus (CHB) conducted at King's College Hospital in London. The study focused on two agents, JNJ-73763989 and JNJ-56136379, with the goal of achieving a functional cure for CHB. The research involved a phase IIb study with 130 patients, but no patients achieved the primary endpoint of functional cure. However, there was a reduction in mean HBsAg levels in the active arm compared to the control arm. The study concluded that the treatment resulted in fewer and less severe post-treatment increases in HBV DNA and alanine aminotransferase flares, but did not achieve functional cure.
