Abstract
- A study conducted at Chiba University Hospital in Japan aimed to examine the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in lateral epicondylitis (LE), also known as tennis elbow, and their association with clinical symptoms. The researchers classified the signal intensity changes of the extensor carpi radialis brevis origin and the shape and length of the synovial fold using MRI. They found a high rate of signal intensity changes in the extensor carpi radialis brevis origin and observed synovial folds in many cases of LE. However, there was no statistically significant correlation between the MRI findings and clinical symptoms. This study provides new insights into hand surgery and the use of MRI in diagnosing LE.
