Abstract

A report from Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, discusses a direct replication study of a previous experiment by Casasanto (2009) on the body-specificity hypothesis. The original study found that right-handed individuals tend to associate positive valence with the right side and negative valence with the left side, while left-handed individuals show the opposite pattern. The replication study involved 2,222 participants from 12 countries and confirmed Casasanto's findings. The research supports the idea that there is a body-specific space-valence mapping. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the journal Memory & Cognition. [Extracted from the article]
