Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao investigated the use of a carbon black-polytetrafluoroethylene (C-PTEE) cathode to degrade metronidazole (MNZ) in wastewater. The researchers optimized the performance and operating conditions of the cathode through experiments. They found that reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by electrolytes in the NaCl and Na2SO4 systems were more effective in removing MNZ compared to the NaNO3 system. The study also proposed three possible degradation paths for MNZ and evaluated the energy consumption of the system. This research provides valuable insights for the industrial-scale application of MNZ wastewater treatment. [Extracted from the article]
