Abstract

This article presents a systematic literature review on conflict and collaboration in urban forest management. It highlights the involvement of diverse stakeholders and values in this field, which can lead to both conflicts and opportunities for collaboration. The study identifies differing goals and poor communication as common triggers for conflicts, while collaboration involves consensus-building, sharing similarities, and power-sharing. The research emphasizes the importance of precise definitions of conflict and collaboration, as well as the inclusion of local stakeholders to reduce conflicts and inform management strategies. The article discusses the significance of collaboration in urban forestry and community well-being, acknowledging that collaborations and conflicts arise from complex issues involving multiple stakeholders and perspectives. It suggests that partnerships and shared resources can enhance collaborations and address challenges related to urban trees. However, further research is needed to improve collaborative decision-making in support of urban forests. The article provides a list of cited literature on related topics.
