Abstract

Dissociative electron attachment rate constants have been measured for Cr(CO)<subscript>6</subscript> under thermal conditions, 296–400 K, yielding Cr(CO)<subscript>5</subscript><superscript>−</superscript> product. At 296 K, 2.92 ± 0.70 cm<superscript>3</superscript> s<superscript>−1</superscript> was measured and a small decrease with temperature was observed (2.72 ± 0.70 cm<superscript>3</superscript> s<superscript>−1</superscript> at 400 K). We additionally determined the cation products of Ar<superscript>+</superscript> reacting with Cr(CO)<subscript>6</subscript>. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
