Abstract

Russian forces have entered a Ukrainian outpost in the coal-mining town of Vuhledar, which has been held by Ukrainian forces since the invasion began in 2022. The town is strategically located in the Donetsk region and its capture would give Russian troops an advantageous position. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has urgently requested military support from Western allies as Russian forces continue to gain ground. The fall of Vuhledar could increase pressure on Zelenskiy, who recently presented a "victory plan" to President Joe Biden during his visit to the US. [Extracted from the article]
