Abstract
- This document is a reply to a letter from Dr. Boppana and Dr. Mirsaeidi regarding an article on the treatment of pulmonary aspergilloma. The authors of the reply acknowledge the possible presentations of chronic pulmonary aspergilloma and discuss the different forms of pulmonary aspergillosis. They also mention nonsurgical treatment options, such as intracavitary instillation of antifungal medications, and agree with the authors of the letter on other modalities like bronchial artery embolization and radiotherapy. However, they note that the recommendations in their article were based on established therapies supported by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and did not include experimental treatments like radiotherapy.
