Abstract

A new alluvial quarry has been established in Marlborough to provide construction companies with a reliable supply of gravel, aggregate, and sand for rebuilding after the Seddon and Kaikoura earthquakes. The quarry, owned by the CMT Group, operates for three to four months during the spring and summer and has the capacity to extract 20,000 cubic meters of alluvial aggregate per year. The acquisition of the quarry strengthens CMT's civil construction capabilities and ensures a secure supply of materials for their projects. The quarry primarily produces screened aggregate for building and construction projects, with some used for road construction and maintenance. The site will be restored to grazing farmland once the quarry's lease ends in 20 years. [Extracted from the article]
