Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China has identified potential therapeutic targets for diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The study used Mendelian randomization and colocalization analyses to examine the causal relationship between plasma proteins and DKD. The researchers identified 21 blood proteins that may be associated with DKD, with 12 of them showing a causal relationship. Four of these proteins were confirmed through external validation. The study suggests that targeting these proteins could be a promising approach for treating DKD and calls for further clinical investigations. [Extracted from the article]
