Abstract
- A recent report from Apollo Hospitals discusses Heyde's syndrome, a multisystem disorder characterized by aortic stenosis, acquired coagulopathy, and gastrointestinal angiodysplasia. The diagnosis of Heyde's syndrome in adults can be challenging due to the high frequency of aortic stenosis and gastrointestinal angiodysplasia. The report presents a case of a male patient with recurrent bleeding per rectum who was diagnosed with Heyde's syndrome and successfully managed with aortic valve replacement and coronary artery bypass surgery. The management of aortic stenosis in patients with Heyde's syndrome can lead to the resolution of anemia, highlighting the importance of accurate identification for treatment decisions.
