Abstract

Researchers from Jiaxing University in China have conducted a study to establish a rat model for karoshi, or death from overwork. The model involved subjecting rats to weight-bearing swimming and sleep deprivation for seven days. The researchers analyzed the physiological and behavioral changes in the rats, as well as the cardiac functions, using omics approaches. The study identified various metabolic adaptations and reprogramming in response to overwork, providing insights into the mechanisms involved in overwork-related pathologies. The findings contribute to our understanding of karoshi and lay a foundation for further research in this field. [Extracted from the article]
