Abstract

A study conducted by researchers from the Medical University of Warsaw explores the role of the histaminergic system in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. The study highlights the pleiotropic effects of histamine and its receptors in the brain, as well as its involvement in neurotransmission, neuroinflammation, and neurodevelopment. The researchers emphasize the need for effective therapies for disorders such as autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease, and suggest that understanding the histaminergic system could provide valuable insights for developing such treatments. The study is available in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. [Extracted from the article]
