Abstract

A study conducted by Universitas Sumatera Utara in Medan, Indonesia aimed to assess the effectiveness of the pediatric risk of mortality (PRISM IV) score in predicting mortality among critically ill pediatric patients in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The study collected demographic, clinical, and laboratory data from 35 pediatric patients in the PICU and analyzed the PRISM IV scores within the first 24 and 72 hours of hospitalization. The results showed that the PRISM IV scores in both time periods were not reliable in predicting mortality. The researchers suggest further studies to validate these findings.
