Abstract

A recent study conducted at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University in Jinan, People's Republic of China, aimed to develop a nomogram for predicting sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC) in pediatric patients admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The researchers screened 948 sepsis patients and identified several variables associated with the risk of SIC, including age, fibrinogen, prothrombin time, C-reactive protein, lactate, and the pediatric sequential organ failure assessment score. The developed nomogram showed excellent predictive performance for SIC, potentially aiding healthcare professionals in early identification and intervention for this severe complication of sepsis.
