Abstract

Researchers at Northeastern University in Shenyang, China have discovered a potential biomedical application for the alloy Ti-13Nb-13Zr-7Ag (TNZ-7Ag). This alloy has a low elastic modulus and excellent antibacterial properties, making it suitable for use in biomedical titanium alloys. The researchers used a pre-deformation and aging treatment to enhance the antibacterial performance of TNZ-7Ag, resulting in an alloy with both low elastic modulus and strong antibacterial properties. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of pre-deformation as a strategy for developing novel biomedical titanium alloys. [Extracted from the article]
